The Joplin

International Screenwriting Award

soviet1A few years ago, Gordy Hoffman was invited to participate in a script development program based in Poland, focused on East European screenwriters developing scripts in English, specifically to showcase to film producers at Cannes and Berlin.

Exposed to the large amount of screenwriters writing in English around the world, BlueCat saw a need to develop these screenwriters in the way they’ve done since their original founding. Finding little opportunities for international writers working in English, we created the Joplin award.

Each year, BlueCat will award a $2,000 USD honorarium to the best screenplay submitted to the competition from a screenwriter residing outside the United States, Canada and the U.K.

All scripts remain eligible for the main awards.

We look forward to reading your work!
