The Perfect Guy Wins Weekend in Close Race Against The Visit




War Room falls to third place in a weekend of strong openings. The Perfect Guy and The Visit duked it out for the top spot, with The Perfect Guy just barely winning the weekend.

Screen Gems’ The Perfect Guy, is a romance/thriller starring Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy, and Morris Chestnut, directed by David M Rosenthal from the screenplay by Tyger Williams. It opened this weekend to a respectable $25.9 million.

Universal’s The Visit is controversial filmmaker M Night Shyamalan‘s comeback film, finishing in a close second with $25.4 million. The Sixth Sense director has directed several films since his breakthrough, to varying degrees of success. The Visit opened to generally positive reviews with a 62% aggregated RottenTomatoes score.

Christian faith based drama, War Room, dropped to third place this weekend with $7.8 million.

The Robert Redford and Nick Nolte independent drama, A Walk in the Woods, and the action hit of the summer, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, round out the top five with $4.7 million and $4.1 million respectively.
