Advancing Your Middle Act

A fun sit-down with Gordy Hoffman, founder and judge of the BlueCat Screenplay Competition, answering questions from up and coming filmmakers and screenwriters. In this episode, Gordy discusses the Middle Act and how to improve it.

Learn your story.

One of the main reasons people get stuck in the middle act of their scripts is because they don’t know their story well enough. So that means the best way to get through these issues is to just write through them. And then rewrite. Over and over again. The more you repeat this process, the more familiar with your story you will become. And the more you’ll be able to fine-tune this troublesome part of the script. Stay focused on your story and continue to build on it.
