Rules & Guidelines
A VIDEO PITCH is a video of a person or persons pitching an idea for a short or feature length movie, not to exceed five minutes. Videos may be uploaded or mailed in any format.
A WRITTEN PITCH is a written pitch of an idea for a short or feature length movie, not to exceed two pages.
A SHORT SCREENPLAY is a screenplay not exceeding 69 pages.
A FEATURE SCREENPLAY is a screenplay between 70-140 pages.
Applications must be postmarked or received electronically on or before midnight PST on October 1st.
Screenwriting Lab Week will take place March 18-23, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA.
All writers must by eighteen years old as of January 1, 2008.
Past and present scripts read by Gordy Hoffman's screenplay consultation service are not eligible.
Past and present USC students of Gordy Hoffman are not eligible.
Past or present BlueCat judges, readers and employees and their immediate families are not eligible.
All entries must be in English
For all written submissions, including pitches, short and feature screenplays, the application fee is $40 per electronic submission and $70 per postal submission. Postal submission fees include a $25 donation to an environmental charity.
For video pitches, the application fee is $40 for both postal and electronic submissions.
There is no limit to the number of screenplays you may submit.
Each applicant will receive an e-mail notifying them of results.
Submitted work must be original and the sole property of the applicant(s).
Under no circumstances will substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts of the entry screenplay(s) be made
Screenplays will not be returned.
