What is a video pitch? How do I make one?
A video pitch is a video of a person or persons pitching an idea for a short or feature length movie, not to exceed five minutes. Videos may be uploaded or mailed in any format.
Basically, if you have an idea for a movie, set up a camera and video yourself, pitching BlueCat your idea. You can be as creative as you want! We want to discover great ideas.
Do I have to have a written script for the movie I'm pitching?
No.
What video files do you accept?
We accept all formats.
What if I don't have a video camera?
Write your pitch! Put it down on paper, not to exceed two pages. Throw a photo or two in there. Draw a picture. Do whatever you would like to convey your vision.
What screenplay formats do you accept?
PDF, SCW, FDR, TXT, RTF and DOC files.
How long is a short screenplay?
For the purposes of the Lab competition, a short screenplay is no longer than 69 pages.
How long is a feature length screenplay?
Between 70-140 pages.
Is there an age requirement?
All writers must be 18 as of January 1, 2008.

Can I submit a screenplay under a pen name?
Yes.
Will we receive analysis on our work?
While our Feature Competition does provide analysis, the Lab will not.
Does my script have to be registered?
We do recommend registering your work with the WGA and/or the Library of Congress Copyright office.
Does the writer maintain rights to their work?
Yes.
What genres do you accept?
We accept and welcome all genres.
If submitted electronically, does my script get read on the computer screen or is it printed out?
Due to environmental concerns, electronic entries are not printed on paper.
What elements of the script are taken into consideration during the judging?
Story, Characterization, Dialogue, Description, Clarity, and Originality.

I don't live in the United States, am I still eligible?
Yes.
Is an adaptation of a published novel (by somebody else) eligible?
You must have the legal rights to adapt the book to enter your screenplay.
Can I make a change to a submission? In a rush to get the material in, I uploaded the wrong version of the script? Is there any way I can resend the proper version?
If you contact us within 24 hours of the original upload, we will allow you to submit your revision. After 24 hours, you will not be able to make any changes.
