Aaron Guzikowski

BlueCat Discovery • Finalist (2005)

Aaron has two feature films in development, UNTITLED SPACE WAR PROJECT for Thunder Road Pictures starring Sam Worthington (AVATAR) and PRISONERS for 8:38 Productions starring Michael Fassbender (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS). PRISONERS , a 2009 Blacklist Script, centers on a Boston man who kidnaps the person he suspects is behind the disappearance of his young daughter and her best friend. The logline for UNTITLED SPACE PROJECT, meanwhile, is being kept under wraps. Aaron is also writing AWAKE for USA Network and THE DESCENDANTS for HBO. He’s repped by Verve and Madhouse Entertainment.

Ryan David Jahn

BlueCat Discovery • Finalist (2005)

After BlueCat, Ryan has gone on to tremendous success in the literary world. Ryan signed a three-book deal with Macmillan in December 2010. His crime novel Good Neighbors, released on May 31, 2011, has been chosen as a June selection by the Book-of-the-Month Club. His next book is scheduled for release in 2012. He won the 2009 Crime Writers’ Association John Creasey New Blood Dagger Award for his book Acts of Violence

Ana Lily Amirpour

BlueCat Discovery • Grand Prize (2007)

Ana Lily’s work has received multiple awards including the Dini Ostrov Award in Comedy Writing, and the Adrienne Shelly Fellowship from the Tribeca Film Festival.  She’s been invited to participate in programs like Fast Track with the Los Angeles Film Festival, the Film Independent Screenwriting and Director’s lab, the Talent Campus at Berlinale and Tribeca All Access. She was most recently selected as a finalist for the 2012 Berlin Today Awards.  Ana has two short films A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT and GRAPPLE!, both of which are currently in production. 

Jim Beggarly

BlueCat Discovery • Finalist (2005)

Jim currently has two feature films in post-production; FREE SAMPLES which stars Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK) and Jason Ritter (Oliver Stone’s W.) and THE KITCHEN, which stars Laura Prepon (THAT 70s SHOW). Both are slated for release in 2012. Jim is repped by The Gersh Agency. 

Andy Stock and Rick Stempson

BlueCat Discovery • Grand Prize (2005)

Andy and Rick’s winning script, BALLS OUT: GARY THE TENNIS COACH, was produced and released by Sony in early 2008, starring Sean William Scott (AMERICAN PIE, ROLE MODELS). The duo’s second produced screenplay, THE GOODS: LIVE HARD, SELL HARD, was released in 2009. The film was directed by Neal Brennan and starred Jeremy Piven (HBO’s ENTOURAGE). Andy and Rick are repped by UTA.

2007 BlueCat Winner Ana Lily Amirpour has made Filmmaker Magazine’s annual 25 NEW FACES OF INDEPENDENT FILM list!

Amirpour’s debut feature film A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and will be distributed by Kino Lorber.

Lance Hammer

BlueCat Discovery • Finalist (2004)

Following up his success in the 2004 BlueCat competition, Lance went on to win the Best Directing Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival for his short film BALLAST. He also won the Breakthrough Director Award at the Gotham Awards. The script was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and then went on to win Best First Feature at the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards. Roger Ebert gave the film four out of four stars saying, “Ballast inexorably grows and deepens and gathers power and absorbs us. I always say I hardly ever cry at sad films, but I sometimes do, just a little, at films about good people.”
