2015 BlueCat Feature Finalists Theodore Schaefer and Patrick Lawler have been awarded The Davey Foundation’s 2015 Short Film Grant to produce their film The Zeno Question

The Zeno Question follows disaffected college student Patrick as he tries to create meaning out of what he sees as the meaninglessness of higher education… all through the philosophy of Zeno.”

Theodore and Patrick were finalists in the 2015 BlueCat Screenplay competition with their feature script, Taking the Toll – The Life and Life of Gilbert Booth, which tells the story of a young toll booth operator who falls for a woman at his father’s nursing home, but soon discovers that it’s her 99 year old grandmother who may be more in tune to his eccentric philosophies, including time travel and his imaginary friend.

The screenwriting duo is based out of New York, where Theodore attended college at Syracuse. In addition to his screenwriting, Theodore has also worked as a First Assistant Director, Director, and Cinematographer on several films. Patrick teaches scriptwriting, playwriting, poetry, and fiction at LeMoyne College in Syracuse. He is the author of five collections of poetry and a novel, Rescuers of Skydivers Search Among the Clouds, which has received multiple awards.

In its second year, The Davey Foundation, named after the late actor and writer David Ross Fetzer, awards grants to, “filmmakers and playwrights 35 and younger for the development of innovative film and theatre projects.”
